The Burkart Family

Henry (Joseph) moved to Marion Iowa from Akron, Ohio in the early 1900's and married Josephine in June 1904.  Josephine was born in New York to an Indian Squaw and a Frenchman.  She was put on the "Orphan Train" from New York to the state of Iowa where she was adopted by Elisabeth and Harvey Fleming of Jones county Iowa.  Henry & Josephine had their only child Frank Walter in 1905 and Josephine died one year later in Iowa City, Iowa.  Henry left to work on the Panama Canal until he returned to Iowa in the 1930's.
